Living standard

Living standards in Bulgaria (Pernik) is lower compared to other European countries and is mainly determined by the amount of rent, food, transportation, leisure, books and supplies. Monthly allowance from 500 BGN to 800 BGN (approximately 250 € to 400 €), depending mainly on the type of accommodation that you choose. For the first few days you will need pocket money, mainly to cover the costs of accommodation, transport, food, etc.

  • Renting a home in Pernik and the surrounding area ranging between 150 and 300 BGN (between 75 € and 150 €) per month, depending on the quality, space and the place of the apartment/house.
  • If you want to rent housing in the city center, it is advisable to use a real estate agency. When using the services of a real estate agency have to pay a commission fee to the agency. The amount of the commission fee is half the size of the rent for the dwelling. Paid once at the signing of the lease of the dwelling.

Bulgarian National Cuisine

Bulgarian cuisine is no longer traditions in food preparation imposed through thirteen century history of Bulgaria, under the influence of various factors - geographical, climatic and cultural, customs, lifestyle, religion, socio- economic development and the impact of other national kitchens.

Characteristic of Bulgarian cuisine is perfect combination of meat and vegetables, cooked legumes and vegetables, as well as the relevant type of fat, resulting in yield dishes with great nutritional value, specific flavor. The use of spices in the preparation of the dishes is modest, depending on the type of the commodity.

Unlike other cuisines, the meat is subjected to a heat treatment together with other products or subsequently according to the time required to prepare. This requires somewhat more time to prepare meals, but contribute to the spicy and good taste.

European Polytechnic University has a restaurant , which offers every day 7-9 salads , soups 4-5, 6-8 types of meatless dishes , local cuisine types 9-15 , 6-8 types of fish dishes a la minute 15 species, 7 types of grilled , 5-7 type desserts, a variety of drinks . Cafeteria of the university work of self and all meals are ordered at the moment. Service is within 3-5 minutes, some orders service takes 10 minutes. The restaurant has more than 200 locations.

There are three cafes located in the region of the University. One of them range includes children's hot sandwiches, burgers and pastries. Cafés solicitation, hot and cold drinks, snacks, desserts and more.

Apart from being a place to eat, the restaurant and adjacent cafes is the favorite vacation spot for students, as well as a place to meet and talk.

Medical service

Before you arrive at the "European Polytechnical University" you can contact your National Health Service in order to familiarize yourself with the necessary documentation for the use of Bulgarian national health system.

Financial support for students

The European Polytechnical University provides students with annual scholarships to students in the form of a bonus system whereby they can get relief from your tuition fee depending on their success in the previous year. Excellent students do not pay tuition.

The office is a single point of administrative services to students and teachers for educational marketing, enrollment of new students, planning and reporting of learning, collection, storage and analysis of information feedback. The main part of the administrative service is interaction between employees, students, teachers and leaders of professional fields.

"Erasmus" Office

The "Erasmus" Office is a structure that organizes and supports the implementation of academic mobility program "Erasmus" in four main areas:

  • Student mobility training;
  • Student mobility for placements;
  • Teaching staff mobility for teaching assignments;
  • Mobility of teaching and non-teaching staff for training purposes;

The office provides information, administrative and logistical support to all participants in the incoming and outgoing mobility.

All activities related to academic matters concerning mobile students and teachers are performed by "Erasmus" coordinators for each department.

Training base

Lectures are held in modern equipment and specialized lecture and seminal rooms, and also laboratories in two buildings.

Practical information for mobile students

Formalities on arrival in Bulgaria The Foreign students on entry into Bulgaria must present a valid identity document and a visa to stay or transit through the country, when required. Visas are not issued at border crossing points. A Bulgarian visa issued by the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria or consulates in countries whose citizens require a visa.

Customs Control

Passing through the country's borders is prohibited importation and exportation of goods of that origin, type and quantity you for business. This does not include items and goods for personal use and consumption. Is allowed duty-free importation of currency and goods necessary for your stay in Bulgaria, provided that the goods and currency due to the amount and kind, are related to the cause and duration of stay. Customs Act in Bulgaria has been developed based on the EU Customs Code. Tariffs in Bulgaria comply with EU requirements.

Completed declaration similar to that used in the EU, and all other commercial documents (invoices, certificates of origin, transport documents and other supporting documents) for clarification is necessary to cease the customs authorities.

Communications

Bulgaria is related to destinations around the world by air (the national airlines "Bulgaria Air"). Well-developed road network is an integral part of the sixth international corridor, part of the relationship between Europe, the Orient and the North-South.

Railway network

The railway network comprises well-developed public and intercity systems. Large number of private bus transport companies offer destinations within Bulgaria and abroad.

Rules and regulations of traffic

Rules and regulations of road traffic and road signs are in accordance with European standards. When driving in Bulgaria, subject to the following speed limits: 50 km / h in the city, 90 km / h intercity roads, and 130 km / h on the highway. If you (the vehicle with foreign registration) become involved in a traffic accident, then it is required by law to wait for the arrival of the Traffic Police at the scene. It is forbidden to driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Other practical information

Bus lines from Pernik to EPU are numbers: 16, 10, 8. Fare (one way) in the city is 1.00 BGN (0, 5 €).

The restaurant in the main building is open every day and is available to all students.

Student organizations

Student Council is an autonomous body representing the student community of the EPU and protects the interests of students at the university. It was created by a decision of the Academic Council. Student Council is actively involved in various projects and collaborates with other student organizations.

Student Council

  • organizes the participation of students in cultural, sporting, artistic, club and international activities;
  • An opportunity to participate in the university;
  • Informs students about upcoming events;
  • A member of the National Union of Students, the Association of the United European students (AEGEE) and others.
